In Afghanistan, from 1926 to 1943 Afghanistan's first national anthem was made without lyrics during the monarchy period. In fact, it was instrumental and had no lyrics. Later, from 1943 to 1973 Šâhe Ğažur o Mehrabane Ma was the second national anthem of Afghanistan. Eventually, Afghan National Anthem was adopted and officially announced as such by Loya Jirga in May 2006. The lyrics were written by Abdul Bari Jahani and the music was written by German-Afghan composer Babrak Wassa.
